OUR STORY

Our Background

We both grew up on South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula —a small-town life where everyone knows your name. As kids, we couldn’t wait to get out and see the world. And we did. But once we had kids of our own, we couldn’t wait to come back.

I’m Beck, a Remote Area Nurse who’s spent years caring for people in the farthest corners of Australia. Tony’s a commercial diver with a love for technical challenges — pressure vessels, safety systems, all the behind-the-scenes mechanics that make things run.

Life was busy, separate, and… great. Until a sudden, devastating family tragedy stopped us cold. It was the kind of moment that makes you question everything: The BIG life questions....

We decided we wanted to work side by side, building something that mattered. We wanted to create a product with our hands and our hearts, something that would carry the essence of Streaky Bay into the world. That’s when distilling became an idea. It was creative, technical, and full of potential to connect with our community.

The leap wasn’t simple. We knew nothing about running a distillery. We enrolled in the University of Adelaide’s Foundations of Distilling course, and every new thing we learned brought ten more challenges — from perfecting recipes to navigating regulations, to finding sustainable ways to power production.  We chose persistence.

We wove our personal passions into the fabric of the business. My lino prints became our labels, Tony’s technical skills keep the operation safe and precise. Our values — like planting trees, using renewable energy, and sourcing responsibly —guide every decision. And we capture the spirit of home in a single phrase: Small Town, Big Spirits.

We found an Australian-made copper pot still, and named her Cyrel after the family member we lost — keeping her memory alive in every batch.

Sometimes it takes life’s hardest moments to strip away the noise and show you what matters: love, community, purpose, and a place to belong.

Today, Streaky Bay Distillers is our celebration of home. Every bottle carries a piece of the Eyre Peninsula. When you sip our spirits, you’re tasting more than gin, whisky, or vodka — you’re tasting our story.

Small Town. Big Spirits. Always from the heart.

OUR PASSION

Eco-Friendly Practices

High Quality Spirits

Supporting Australian Made

At our Streaky Bay distillery, sustainability is key. We power our operations as much as possible with solar energy, significantly reducing our carbon footprint in a sector known for high electricity and water usage. Our innovative recycling system allows us to reuse cooling water, minimising water consumption. We also use recycled cardboard for packaging to lower waste and emissions. By sourcing local botanicals when available, we support local agriculture and reduce transportation impacts. These practices ensure that our distillery not only produces fine spirits but also promotes environmental responsibility.

High Quality Standards

Only the Best Ingredients

At our distillery, we prioritise sustainability by sourcing local South Australian ingredients, including unique elements like abalone shell, saltbush, and a variety of citrus fruits such as limes, lemons, and mandarin. This approach not only supports local growers and reduces carbon emissions from long-distance transport but also ensures that the botanicals we use are fresher and more flavourful. Using these locally sourced ingredients, we capture the essence of our region in every bottle while contributing positively to the local economy and reducing our environmental impact. This commitment to local sourcing demonstrates our dedication to both quality and sustainability.

First-Rate Materials

Guaranteed Excellence

Our distillery is dedicated to supporting local businesses and craftsmanship. Our 300 litre Copper Pot still, the heart of our operations, is crafted from Australian copper and was sourced from a manufacturer in New South Wales, ensuring both quality and durability. We rely on local tradespeople for the installation and ongoing maintenance of our equipment, fostering community ties and economic support within our region. This commitment to local sourcing not only enhances our operational efficiency but also contributes to the local economy, embodying our dedication to community and sustainability.
